Tibetan Calendar AI identifies its calendar tradition explicitly as Phugpa (Phug-pa), one of the major Tibetan astronomical lineages used in almanacs across the Himalayas and diaspora communities.
Gregorian-to-Tibetan conversion uses the open-source @hnw/date-tibetan library (CalendarTibetan), wrapped by our TibetanCalendarEngine in lib/tibetan-calendar-engine.ts. That engine adds Rabjung cycle years, Mewa and Parkha calculation, festival detection, activity scoring, lucky color and direction, and daily ratings from structured rule tables.
Regional almanacs or other Tibetan traditions (such as Mong or Tsurphu systems) may differ on leap months or festival emphasis. When comparing with elders or monasteries, confirm the tradition first, then compare Tibetan month and day numbers rather than English festival names alone.
